My little vision for A Bit of Extra Boutique has curved and pivoted into three separate businesses! Believe it or not, A Bit of Extra needs a split! Get ready to EXPAND!

Originally, having never been in retail, I had a vision for a fun and perky women’s clothing boutique. And I just went for it. I’ve loved every moment. It has been absolutely the right choice for me. Over the last 2 ½ years my vision has grown in some ways and felt stalled or stuck in other ways.
I value individuals for who they are, and I never want to leave anyone out, so I experimented with being everything for everyone. Personally, I’ve enjoyed everyone who has walked through this Bit of Extra door.
Business wise, having a $10 sale rack in the same store as a designer jean rack, can be off-putting or confusing to some customers.
But I have a brilliant solution to the quirks and issues I’ve been trying to resolve over the past 8-12 months. Enter, "The Expansion!" TA-DA!!!
The original version of this fun, playful boutique has always been to make customers feel like they “just walked into their girlfriend’s house.” I believe we have accomplished this! So, it is with great amusement and joy that I get to tell you, the new name of the current A Bit of Extra Boutique location will be MY GIRLFRIEND’S CLOSET!
My Girlfriend’s Closet will look and feel very much like the boutique you’re used to. Two small changes will be that 1- The premium & designer lines will be moved to a new location. 2- Along with new retail from brands you’re already familiar with, in time, My Girlfriend’s Closet will accept and resell select clean and gently used clothing & accessories of all brands and sizes. These items will be accepted in exchange for small store credits or as donations. I’ll let you know when we will be open for these second-hand items. Not yet, but start saving them now! My Girlfriend’s Closet will be managed by Shar.
Named for family, and with a nod to femininity, beauty, and elegance; Penelope Iris, A Woman’s Premium Clothing Boutique, will open on Santa Clara Drive! Penelope Iris will carry premium clothing lines, accessories, and products. Along with regular store hours, personal appointments for private shopping will be available. Penelope Iris will be managed by Janet and another assistant. Robyn will continue to make appearances at either location as needed.
As for the third business, you are likely aware that during 2024 and 2025 I’ve been in design and production of an Original Sequin Clothing Collection. That endeavor is now a wholesale company! It seems rather appropriate that the “A Bit of Extra” name will follow that brand into the retail world, spotlighted by disco balls and sequin fabrics. ;-)
I was on the hunt for a solution to my boutique quirks and frustrations for many months. Once the answer showed itself, the path was full steam ahead. Within days I became aware of the perfect little stand-alone building for a second location and all the legal red tape requirements are fully underway. With the building and location set, now the FUN part begins.
I get to start creating the beauty I want you to be able to experience. I’m fully invested in and absolutely over the moon about this venture. I want it to be more lovely than any other boutique you’ve ever walked into. I’m working on the smallest details, from the hangers your new pieces will hang on, to the bags they will go home with you in. The faster I’m able to bring these visions into reality, the sooner you get to experience this elegance. My plan is to be in full operation before the Fall Boutique Crawl this November.
