The Magic of Dopamine Dressing

Hi everyone, this is Cass! You know me, but you don't know that you know me. I'm the one behind the camera on The Boutique's social media. I’m here to talk to you about something really fun. It's called Dopamine Dressing!

Dopamine Dressing is, by definition, dressing in a way that boosts your mood and brings you JOY! It invites you to embrace colors, patterns, or outfits that you might not wear otherwise. It’s a new opportunity to express yourself and feel more confident.

For example: If you’re wearing a bright yellow sweater it might bring a little sunshine into your day, and make you feel more upbeat. A flowy, floral dress can make you feel carefree, and it could be fun to twirl in… which would also bring you joy!

Many studies have shown that colors can influence our emotions, decisions, and behaviors. Warm colors like red, orange, and yellow are associated with energy, positivity, and excitement! So - when you wear these colors, your brain might associate them with happiness and fun! In turn you get a boost in dopamine levels. On top of that, expressing your personal style can boost self-esteem. Dressing in a way that is authentic to you can increase your feelings of self-worth and satisfaction. It creates a mood boost that can make an ordinary day feel extraordinary!

Every week we host “Funday Friday” on Social Media. Funday Friday is a day that we encourage everyone to grab their favorite accessory, or experiment with their closet for all of the reasons I listed above. THEN - you take a picture or a cute mirror selfie, create your Instagram story or Facebook post and tag us so that we can see! I love re-sharing everyone’s stories and seeing the wonderful ways you all express yourselves. Follow us on Instagram HERE  or Follow us on Facebook HERE and tag us in your next Funday Friday story!

I encourage you to try Dopamine Dressing for yourself! Experiment with your wardrobe! See how different pieces make you feel. Discover the different outfit combinations you can create. You might be surprised at the difference a little pop of color or a bold accessory can make!

Happy Dopamine Dressing!

Xoxo - Cass
